Last night I saw the latest Warren Miller film, Dynasty. For those of you who have missed out on the last sixty of his films, Warren Miller is a director who has made a feature-length film about skiing every year since 1950. The man himself actually has nothing to do with the films any more, but his company still makes them and they're still pretty good.
Seeing a Warren Miller film always leaves me wanting to go skiing straight away, but it's a little while before that can happen. So instead I thought I'd share some scans from The Art of Skiing: Vintage Posters from the Golden Age of Winter Sport by Jenny De Gex. I love the level of creativity in illustrated posters, showing more of an atmosphere than just photos of mountains.
I think this last one is my favourite for a few reasons - the awesome 1920s outfits, the fact that they're not actually skiing but taking a break with a hot drink (an important part of skiing that my mother and I have perfected!), and the town - I've been to Wengen!
